My work will be included in TORONTO/BERLIN 1982-2012, at the Zweigstelle Gallery in Berlin. The show is, very loosely, a kind of survey of Canadian drawing practices; specifically it traces the influence of the ChromaZone collective, a drawing & painting collective formed in Toronto in the early ’80s.
I’m really quite excited, not just because this is the first European showing of my work, but also to have it contextualized/historicized this way. Some of my favorite Canadian artists were in ChromaZone (and anybody at all interested in Canadian artists’ responses to AIDS in the ’80s should look them up).
I will be at the opening, and if you’re in Berlin, you should come!
